Types of Classes

All group classes are mixed ability unless otherwise stated.  All mats and equipment are provided  

I advise new clients to join me for an initial 60 minute Private 1:1 Session introducing the principals and benefits of Pilates through movement, alignment, breathing, centering, and strength. We look at how your body moves, taking you through the beginner exercises so you have a sound understanding before your progression to the next level. We discuss the best options for you before joining a group session.   

Pilates Mat Classes

All classes are small in numbers which means there is a high level of supervision and guidance. Moves are demonstrated then hands on support/correction is offered when required. 

Essential Pilates  The Essential Mat class is suitable if you are relatively new to Pilates or you wish to continue to improve your Pilates technique.  It is an ideal refresh after a break from class.  The sessions lean slightly towards beginners and focus on the principles of Pilates and the essential moves.  A variety of equipment is used. 

Progressive Pilates  A good class if you have completed the Essential Pilates classes or have had individual 1:1 tuition. The pace of the class is slightly faster than essential and will flow from one exercise to the next.    A variety of equipment is used including stretch bands, rollers poles and balls

Mixed Ability This is a mixed ability class.  The moves are layered offering progression and additional challenge, allowing you to choose the level at which you work.   A variety of equipment is used including stretch bands, rollers, poles and balls

Gentle Flow   A gentle class, suitable for complete beginners as well as those who want to maintain flexibility, mobility, strength and balance at a slower pace. 

A variety of equipment is used to gently challenge. 

Private Sessions

Private Sessions are an excellent choice for clients who wish to develop technique or work on specific areas. The 60 minute sessions are tailored to individuals requirements and can be arranged at mutually convenient times in The Pilates Room in Barnard Castle.

 

Introduction to Pilates - I advise new clients to join me for an Introductory 1:1 sessions.  The session last 60 minutes. We introduce the principals and benefits of Pilates, We look at how your body moves, taking you through the beginner exercises so you have a sound understanding before joining a group session.

Barre Pilates
Coming Soon

Ballet meets Pilates.  A fun energizing and effective class combining the precision of Pilates with the movement of dance. Barre Pilates is high energy, high repetition and low impact.  You will strengthen and lengthen, tighten and tone as you would expect from Pilates.  We incorporate the use of the traditional ballet barre and often include balls, bands and small weights
