Why Walk?

Lets talk about walking and the benefits of 10,000 steps a day!!

The majority of us have a device thats records (too much) of what we do - whether its a Fitbit, Apple Watch or even an app on your phone like the one I've highlighted in the image below. We can all record everything from sleeping to eating! Over the last month or so, I have consciously made the effort to go for a walk every day, recording my steps and I can honestly say I feel a million times better. With this post in mind, I did a little basic research and as we all know, the more steps we take a day the better - here's a list of some of the benefits.

Walking boosts energy levels, improves concentration, improves flexibility - which in turn improves posture and reduces the risk of injury, can help lower blood pressure, helps build muscle, helps stabilize blood sugars, great for your lungs, boosts heart health, but the two things that struck me the most are: 1)Strengthens bones - physical activity particularly weight bearing, places stress on the bones which helps improve their density and lowers the risk of osteoporosis in later life. 2)The one we all need throughout November - and I have certainly noticed over the last month, WALKING IMPROVES YOUR MOOD - physical activity triggers the release of neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin and endorphins and they all play a role in keeping our mood in check! 😄👍🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ During the first Lockdown, as time went on I started to feel a little low, exercise less and eat more! THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN THIS TIME
